Somerita Mallik, a well-known singer of Nazrulgeeti of this generation, started learning music from her mother Surupa Mallik. Now, she is taking talim from Smt. Aparajita Ghosh, Shri Krishnendu Bhattacharya & Shri Subhankar Bhaskar. Somerita sang for 5 music albums which were released from different music companies. 1. Tobu Bhalobasi, from Bihaan music (Album of Nazrulgeeti with Rabindranath Tagore's poem by Sumantra Sengupta) 2.Thamma, Tomar Songe, from Bihaan Music (Album of Rabindra Sangeet with talk theatre for Children by Urmimala Bose) 3.Biraho Madhuro Holo Aaji, from Cozmik Harmony (Album of Rabindra Sangeet with recitation by Sutapa Banerjee) 4.Bulbul Kande Ghazal Gaane, from Questz World (Album of Nazrulgeeti with narration by Mr. Soumitra Chattopadhyay) 5.Matir Kachhe, from Bihaan Music (Album of folk songs of Kazi Nazrul Islam). She has performed at 'ntv', 'Boishakhi tv', 'Desh tv', SA tv, G TV, Jomuna TV, & 'Dhaka fm', 'abc radio', 'peoples radio' of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Betar. In Kolkata 'Tara Muzik', 'R Plus', 'U Bangla', 'Banga TV', 'ETV', CTVN, Uttar Bangla etc.

মাতৃ দিবসে সন্তোষপুর অনুচিন্তন আর্ট সেন্টারে ছায়ানট (কলকাতা) - এর বিশেষ অনুষ্ঠান 'আমাদের মা' অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
পরিকল্পনা ও পরিচালনার দায়িত্বে ছিলেন ছায়ানটের সভাপতি সোমঋতা মল্লিক। অনুষ্ঠানে বিশেষ সম্মান জ্ঞাপন করা হয় শ্রীমতী অলোকানন্দা রায় - কে।

৪২৩ জন শিল্পী সমন্বয়ে সংস্কৃতির পীঠস্থান কলকাতার রবীন্দ্র সদন প্রেক্ষাগৃহে অনুষ্ঠিত হল কৃষ্ণপুর নজরুল চর্চা কেন্দ্রের আয়োজনে নজরুল প্রণাম 'অঞ্জলি লহো মোর', সহযোগিতায় ছিল ভারতীয় বিদ্যাভবন এবং ছায়ানট ( কলকাতা)।
Chhayanat (Kolkata), a cultural organisation based in Kolkata, predominantly aims at expanding the creations of Kazi Nazrul Islam through songs, recitation and dance. Almost 1000 members all over India. It has organised more than 250 programmes in number of auditoriums in Kolkata, namely ICCR, Birla academy of art & culture, Rabindra Okakura Bhaban, Paschimbanga Bangla Akademi, Indian Museum, Alipore Museum, Nazrultirtha, Jogen Chowdhury Centre For Arts, Sisir Mancha and so on. Chhayanat organises 'Baithaki adda' once in a month where the members of Chhayanat perform different types of Bengali songs. This organisation has played a crucial role in identifying historical places associated with Kazi Nazrul Islam, just not in Kolkata but outside the city as well and subsequently organised cultural events in those places and put a memorial plaque at these places so that future generation can benefit from the same by learning about its historical significance.

1.Iti Nazrul — 57 letters by Kazi Nazrul Islam, read by 41 well-known artists of both the Bengals, designed and directed by Somerita.
2.Jhinge Phool — a recitation-album of Nazrul’s 14 children’s poems, directed by Somerita.
3.Jana-Ajana Nazrul — an audio-biography of Kazi Nazrul Islam, written by Dr.Rafiqul Islam, and narrated by Sumantra Sengupta & MadhumitaBasu, conceptualised by Somerita.
4.Chhotoder Nazrul — a compilation of 51 poems by Kazi Nazrul Islam for children, conceptualised by Somerita.
5.Nazrul O Bangabandhu — a narration-album of 18 rare articles (by various illuminating personalities) on Kazi Nazrul Islam and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, presented by Chhayanat (Kolkata), conceptualized & directed by Somerita Mallik. 'Nazrul O Bangabandhu', released on the occasion of Bangabandhu's birth centenary, features audio-narrations by 11 well-known elocutionists from both the Bengals.
6.Rubaiyat-E-Hafiz — an audio-album of complete Hafiz's works translated by Kazi Nazrul Islam, consisting 73 short-poems (in 15 tracks) and 3 other tracks, presented by Chhayanat (Kolkata), conceptualized & directed by Somerita Mallik and published by Swagato Gangopadhyay. 'Rubaiyat-E-Hafiz' features audio-narrations by one of the best elocutionists Debashis Bose. The other 3 tracks are the 'Dedication To Bulbul', 'Introduction To Rubaiyat-E-Hafiz' and a 'Biography Of Hafiz'.
7.Smarane Nazrul — a narration-album of 40 reminiscence-stories on Kazi Nazrul Islam by his close associates, contemporary personalities and acquaintances throughout his lifetime, presented by Chhayanat (Kolkata), conceptualized & directed by Somerita Mallik and published by Swagato Gangopadhyay. 'Smarane Nazrul' features audio-narrations by two of the best narrators Debashis Bose, Bhaswati Dutta and Somerita Mallik herself.
8.Shishu Kishorder Nazrul — a compilation of 25 poems by Kazi Nazrul Islam for children, recited by Kalyani Kazi (Daughter-In-Law of Kazi Nazrul Islam), conceptualised by Somerita.
9. Premik Nazrul — a compilation of 70 poems by Kazi Nazrul Islam, recited by 24 well-known artists of both the Bengal. Designed and directed by Somerita.
10. Nazrul K Nibedito Ponktimala — a compilation of 72 poems by various poets related to Kazi Nazrul Islam, recited by 34 well-known artists of both the Bengal. Designed and directed by Somerita. Supported by Krishnapur Nazrul Charcha Kendra.
11. Offerings to Nazrul — A compilation of recitations of Kazi Nazrul Islam's poetry in translation. 'Offerings to Nazrul' is an effort to reach out to lovers of Kazi Nazrul Islam's poetry in three different languages - English, Hindi and Urdu. In the album, various artists from Hyderabad came together to recite translated works of Kazi Nazrul Islam in three languages. The sole purpose of the album is to reach out to more people through multiple languages and to spread the work of Kazi Nazrul Islam.
12. Hriday Rabindranath Chetonay Nazrul — a compilation of poems by Kazi Nazrul Islam related to Rabindranath Tagore, recited by well-known artists. Directed by Somerita. Supported by Krishnapur Nazrul Charcha Kendra.

A documentary film on Churuliya, birth place of Nazrul, is in making. Project initiated and presented by Chhayanat (Kolkata).
